(1) COMMISSION- The term `Commission' means the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism established under section 899C.

`(2) VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization' means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.

`(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

`(4) IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE- The term `ideologically based violence' means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual's political, religious, or social beliefs."


This is the end of liberty if this passes the senate and is signed into law. The broad language used truly will allow people to be arrested for simply speaking against the government. Saying "It is time for a revolution" will get you a one way pass to a detention center. Let's not forget that it is our duty to dissolve the government if the government has removed the power from the citizens. That is what they are trying to prevent. Forget terrorism, it is about complete and utter control over each and every one of us. [Also, think about the fact that Timothy McVeigh was brought to justice without such a law. The only reason they need this is control.]

Hi David,

I see you've got Martha Stout's book as one of your favourites, so you are familiar with the psychological type that work to put such a bill in place. Psychopaths just can't bear to let normal people lead their lives. There is this pathological need to control what they can't understand. There's this book out about the intersection between psychopathy and politics called: Ponerology - a Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes. It's a mouthful, but an amazing read. It talks about how such things are crafted and how they are sold to a fearful public. I found it on a news site called Signs of the Times (www.sott.net). They also had an article on this horror of a piece of legislation you might find complementary to your own.
