500 Pakistani activists arrested - Focus on Pakistan - MSNBC.com: "ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Police rounded up hundreds of opposition leaders and rights activists Sunday after Pakistan’s military ruler suspended the constitution, ousted the top judge and deployed troops to fight what he called rising Islamic extremism."

This is a bad turn for the middle east. How this works out could mean the difference between a semi-stable middle east (unlikely) or World War 3. Keep in mind that Pakistan has the only nuclear weapons in the middle east.
