"I don’t give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!"

White House opposes military pay raise

"The White House has come out in opposition to a proposal by Congress to raise military pay by 3.5 percent, according to a report by Army Times. The administration had originally asked for only a 3 percent increase in pay, equal to private sector pay increases, effective January 1, 2008. The House Armed Services Committee raised the increase to 3.5 percent for 2008, and also recommended increases in 2009 through 2012 that would be 0.5 percent higher than private sector raises."
