"I don’t give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!"

U.S. plans big arms sale to Saudi Arabia: report - Yahoo! News

U.S. plans big arms sale to Saudi Arabia: report - Yahoo! News: "The Bush administration is preparing to ask Congress to approve arms sales totaling $20 billions over the next decade for Saudi Arabia and its neighbors, The New York Times reported in Saturday editions.

Coming as some U.S. officials contend that the Saudi government is not helping the situation in Iraq, the proposal for advanced weapons for Saudi Arabia has stoked concern in Israel and among its U.S. backers, the Times said. The package of advanced weaponry includes advanced satellite-guided bombs, upgrades for its fighters and new naval vessels.

Senior officials, including State Department and Pentagon officials who outlined the deals' terms, told the Times they thought the Bush administration had resolved those concerns, partly by offering Israel more than $30 billion in military aid over the next 10 years, which would be a significant increase over recent levels."

Brilliant, just brilliant. Let's not forget that many of the hijackers on 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia. In this article, the king of Saudi Arabia calls the Iraq occupation illegal, and we are going to arm these people further? Saudi Arabia also took issue with the United States not calling for a cease-fire in Israel's attack of Lebanon last year. Of course, U.S.-made weapons were used in that attack, as well. It just goes to show that we care more about the profits from the weapons we sell than the actual political stability of the world at large.

G8 sells the world's poorest children to Big Pharma for profit | Press Esc: "Only a quarter of the $1.5 billion donated by G8 leaders to eradicate disease among poorest children will be spent on the costs of vaccines, while the three-quarters will go to major pharmaceutical corporations as profits, a Comment published in this week’s edition of The Lancet concluded."

...Speaking of big Pharma. While they are using poor children as guinea pigs and disposals for bad vaccinations, they get to make a huge profit. How lovely...

The Raw Story | Pentagon paying $900,000 to destroy jets it paid millions to build

The Raw Story | Pentagon paying $900,000 to destroy jets it paid millions to build: "Iran is the primary target of the Pentagon's move. According to AP, Iran is the only country trying to keep F-14s airworthy -- jets they bought in the 1970s when it was an ally."

Oops, we sold Iran weapons too. Who won't we arm to the teeth, besides, of course, the enemy of the day? I wonder how many weapons used against our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan are stamped with the words "Made in the USA?"

Salon.com | News Wires

Salon.com | News Wires: "U.S. defense contractors are receiving nearly half the money allotted by Washington to fight cocaine trafficking and leftist rebels in Colombia, throwing into doubt their mission to train Colombians to replace them.

When U.S. defense contractors were first hired by the U.S. government in 2000 to help the Colombian government under the multibillion-dollar Plan Colombia aid package, American officials assumed the contractors would be gradually replaced as they trained Colombians."

Our shadow warriors are taking more profit than they deserve? Where have we heard this before? This is what happens when you hire a corporation to play GI Joe...

The Queen of Earmarks?

The Queen of Earmarks?: "The Hill reported yesterday that Hillary Clinton inserted more earmarks into the latest defense spending bill than any other Senator except for Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin. The 26 earmarks, totaling $148.4 million, mostly went to the New York-based defense industry. (For more on Hillary's ties to military contractors, see the Village Voice article 'Mama Warbucks.')"

Here is a little indication of what Hillary's true policy in the middle east would be if she were elected: Surprise! More war profiteering...
