I love it when police are put on paid leave for their indiscretions. Here in Schenectady, it is very rare for an officer to get suspended without out pay, much less fired, no matter what they have done. The police union has way too much power in this city, and I assume it is like that elsewhere.
Also, leave it to CNN to decide that this might have been some kind of joke or something... The videos make it obvious what happened, and until there is any proof otherwise, a respected "news" organization should not be making such baseless remarks... Everyone has pulled a practical joke or two, that does not mean that everything they do is a joke...

"Confirming the central thesis of Al Gore’s criticism of the media, this morning CNN announced the hire of a new reporter who will “be covering things like Britney, as well as the Michael Jackson memorabilia”:"
Yes, today's media looks more and more like the "sanctioned" media in the book Farenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury. When a celebrity does anything at all, it takes up a huge chunk of news time. When a celebrity dies, you can be assured that there will be no real news for weeks, not there is much real news normally. Then there is the huge amount of time devoted to covering reality TV shows. If I actually wanted to watch last night's garbage shows, I would have watched them, drop the 10 minute daily summary, please.
The thing is, we don't actually need to ban book's in today's society to accomplish an Orwellian America, the state education system is and has been allowing children to graduate with very little reading ability, and even less desire to actually read. Remember, a child who thinks may also desire to question the authority of the state.
