AlterNet: Health & Wellness: Why Is the Pet Food Industry Killing Our Pets?: "The commercial pet foods industry rakes in billions of dollars annually. In exchange for our dollars, we trust the companies to provide our pets with quality nutrition. The recent pet food recall demonstrated that our trust has been misplaced. But while many were shocked by the tragic deaths of beloved pets, many more would be shocked to know that the pet food industry has a long history of mistreating our pets. I first began researching the industry in 1990, when my two dogs became ill after eating a well-known commercial food."
The vast majority of pet food companies were formed as a way to profit off the less-than-human quality by-products of the meat and grain industries. Corporate propaganda and corporate pressuring of veterinarians has led the consumer to believe that pet food is actually good for their pets. Our pets, however, were born to eat most of the same food that we eat.

Chinese eye shadow has been found to be tainted with both lead and microbiological contamination
WASHINGTON – In the wake of scandals involving tainted food and toothpaste from China comes word of a new concern from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission as well as the Food and Drug Administration – toys, makeup, glazed pottery and other products that contain significant amounts of lead."
Why bother with an expensive war, when you can poison millions of Americans with food and cheap manufactured goods. Do you think it may be planned?

U.S. government fights to keep meatpackers from testing all slaughtered cattle for mad cow - International Herald Tribune
U.S. government fights to keep meatpackers from testing all slaughtered cattle for mad cow - International Herald Tribune: "WASHINGTON: The Bush administration said Tuesday it will fight to keep meatpackers from testing all their animals for mad cow disease.
The Agriculture Department tests fewer than 1 percent of slaughtered cows for the disease, which can be fatal to humans who eat tainted beef. A beef producer in the western state of Kansas, Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, wants to test all of its cows."
Once again Bush fights to keep the corporate profits high, while failing to keep the people safe. Those tests can be expensive, so let the people die.
